Dougal was one of the original WordPress core developers, contributing features such as XML-RPC API support, mass re-enabling of plugins, Conditional GET support for feeds, and Post Custom Fields, which became the basis for countless plugin and theme features.
He has contributed several plugins to the WordPress ecosystem over the years, including Fancybox Gallery, Easy Gravatars, Theme Preview, and a filter for Talk Like a Pirate Day which has been subsequently adapted for numerous other systems including Drupal and Joomla.
Dougal has presented at WordCamp Birmingham for all three years it has been around, and was also selected as a presenter for the inaugural WordCamp Atlanta. Topics have included “The Future of WordPress”, which discussed upcoming features in WordPress 2.7, “Jumping Into WordPress Plugin Programming”, which will see an updated version at the October PHP Atlanta meeting, and “Pitfalls of a Popular Project”.
